BARMC Peer Support

Healing circles for Black and Racially Marginalised Communities

A warm room. A closed door. You’re welcome here

Help hope healing heard

What this space is

This is a trauma-informed, culturally rooted peer-support circle for Black and Racially Marginalised adults. We gather in a living-room setting to share a hot dinner, speak openly, listen deeply, and care collectively. You decide what to share, how much, and at what pace — your comfort guides the space.

We support people with a range of experiences and we specialise in healing from child sexual (abuse) harm, sexual violence, and racial oppression. We use the phrase child sexual (abuse) harm to honour evolving language while ensuring people searching for abuse can still find us.

Our circles recognise the distinct burdens Black and Racially Marginalised communities face in the UK. They are reparative, safer spaces that centre dignity, choice, and cultural strength. We warmly welcome Black, Brown, and People of Colour communities, including queer, trans, and non-binary people. Our collective wisdom and lived experience are the seeds of healing and hope.

Talking, Healing, and Sealing

As members of BARMC, it is essential for us to unite, engage in open dialogue, and collectively heal the wounds of our past. Trauma and adverse childhood experiences are linked to various physical and mental health challenges, social issues, and premature mortality. The BIPOC community often bears witness to the trauma experienced by others in a society that does not consistently value all bodies equally. This secondary trauma can significantly affect our well-being and be inherited by future generations. Taking a healing journey is crucial for our own sake and that of our descendants

What to expect

  • Hot dinner, shared — arrive, eat, and settle in a warm, safe room.

  • Talking & listening — gently facilitated, with options for small groups and quiet moments. Listening is participation.

  • Moyo Andanda (HEAL) — our six-module healing model supports being Holistic, Empowering, Aligned, and Liberating, drawing on practices such as music, breath, storytelling, prayer/quiet (optional), movement, and gratitude.

  • Respect & confidentiality — what’s shared in the circle stays in the circle. Online we use illustrations and protect identities.

  • Free to attend

  • You might leave with new language for difficult feelings, grounding tools, and the reassurance of community holding.
