Reflection Sessions
Welcome to our Reflection Sessions, where we offer a compassionate and supportive environment to help you process your thoughts and emotions related to challenging experiences. Whether you are conducting research on sexual violence and abuse, dealing with domestic abuse, navigating the legal system, or facing workplace bullying and harassment, our sessions provide a confidential and empathetic space for reflection and recovery.
Therapy vs. Reflection Sessions
Therapy is a structured and professional process where a trained therapist or counsellor helps individuals address specific issues, emotional challenges, or mental health concerns. It aims to promote healing, personal growth, and positive change, often through psychological frameworks such as cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT). Therapy focuses on understanding and resolving psychological, emotional, and behavioural difficulties, typically exploring past experiences, patterns of thinking, and coping mechanisms.
Reflection Sessions are less formal and structured than therapy. They provide an opportunity for self-exploration, self-awareness, and personal insight. Reflection sessions focus on examining thoughts, feelings, and experiences, allowing individuals to process events, gain clarity, and learn from their own narratives, thereby growing their own agency.

FAQ
Below you’ll find answers to some frequently asked questions about our Reflection Sessions. If you have any additional queries, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
What are Reflection Sessions?
Reflection Sessions are safe and supportive one-to-one meetings designed for individuals who have experienced various forms of abuse. These sessions are particularly beneficial for those who have recently shared their experiences through research, interventions, or other means, and who may be feeling exposed, confused, raw, and in need of a confidential space to talk and process their emotions.
Who can join the Reflection Sessions, and how do I know if they are right for me?
Any person who has a lived experience of abuse or trauma can book a Reflection Session. Our sessions are designed to be inclusive and supportive of all. If you’re seeking to process and reflect on an experience where you bared your soul, our Reflection Sessions may be beneficial. We recommend trying a session to see if it feels like a good fit for your needs.
How do I participate in a Reflection Session?
Our sessions are usually booked and paid for by employers, research institutions like universities, as part of a care and support package. However, you can also participate by contacting us directly. You will receive all the necessary information and guidelines to ensure a respectful and healing environment.
Is there a cost to join the Reflection Sessions?
Yes, in many cases, the cost is covered by an employer or agency working with people sharing their lived experiences. We are committed to providing free support to survivors via our peer support groups. Donations are welcome to help us continue offering these valuable services.
How are the facilitators chosen for the Reflection Sessions?
Our facilitators are carefully selected based on their lived experience and their progress on their healing journey. They are trained to provide empathetic support and maintain confidentiality.
What kind of support can I expect after the session, and is there a limit to how many sessions I can attend?
We provide free peer support groups and have a wealth of reading material on our Instagram account. We also offer a self-care guide that is available to all. The number of Reflection Sessions is usually agreed upon by the organisation offering support. If you are paying for the session yourself, there is no set limit to the number of sessions you can attend. We encourage you to participate as long as you find the sessions helpful on your healing journey.
What measures are in place to ensure the sessions are safe and respectful?
We have guidelines and protocols to ensure a safe and respectful environment, including trained facilitators, a code of conduct for participants, and the option to report any concerns to our team.
